Summary of The Voice of the Rain

The Voice of the Rain is all about the importance of rain and poet’s imaginary conversation with a soft-falling shower wherein he interrogates the rain asking ‘Who are you?’ and, to his surprise, he gets a reply from that rain that it is the poem of earth. On talking further, the rain tells various things about it to the narrator that how it rises upwards in the form of water vapor from the unending land and the bottomless sea on a mission. Further more, it alters itself, comes downwards and laves the plants and every other atom of this earth. According to it, no one is able to figure out the difference between its shapes. It not only purifies the earth but also quenches the thirst of the needy people and creatures badly in need of it.

Having returned the life to everybody, it returns to its origin to commence the same process again. It works for other round the clock. According to the poet, it is not, at all, worried if any one praises it for its good deeds or not. It, without paying any attention, completes all the work and comes back home. The poet also tries to compare the rain with a beautiful and melodious song.. In Toto, the poem, briefly, elaborates rain’s journey and its importance.
